Baby Boot Camp stroller-based fitness classes are designed specifically to help moms get fit. It takes the place of a personal trainer at a time in life when moms need one more than ever. Classes combine strength-training exercises with cardiovascular drills. Pilates, yoga and abdominal exercises help improve core strength. The stroller, resistance tubes (and even children!) are used as an integral part of the workout. The structure of all Baby Boot Camp classes follows the guidelines set by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Council on Exercise.
Baby Boot Camp arrived in McKinney a year after Andrea Gleason’s first child in July 2006. Andrea was an experienced runner, mountain biker, adventure racer and athlete. She wanted two things while trying to get back into shape after giving birth. She sought a challenging workout that didn’t require hiring a personal trainer or a gym membership. She also desired an environment that was supportive and understanding of the needs of new mothers. Gleason found a similar program in a neighboring city. It took only a few weeks for Andrea to enhance the concept and bring Baby Boot Camp to McKinney. Her program garnered instant success and she has rave reviews from participants. She is a certified personal trainer, specializing in pre- and postnatal fitness, and lives in McKinney with her husband and daughter.
